Fiat Custom Shop to Offer Factory-Backed Performance Parts, Accessories for 500s

Fiat Custom Shop to Offer Factory-Backed Performance Parts, Accessories for 500s Fiat is taking a play from Scion’s book by offering factory-warrantied performance parts and accessories through what the automaker calls the Fiat Custom Shop. The Italian automaker is trying to attract Fiat 500 buyers, many of whom are already spending money on aftermarket gear.

Similar to port-installed Scion accessories, parts ordered through the Custom Shop will be installed post-production before reaching dealerships. Initially, the Custom Shop will offer about 60 accessories such as graphics, body kits, and interior upgrades, but over the next year expects to offer more than 150 parts including performance-enhancing pieces like air intakes and exhaust systems.
Parts purchased through the Fiat Custom Shop can also be financed with the vehicle. Wait times for custom-ordered vehicles can take up to two months including initial assembly of the vehicle and installation of the custom pieces. The new program was announced at the SEMA show, where Fiat introduced the 500 Beach Cruiser concept as well as the 500 Abarth Café Racer.
The effort to keep Fiat 500 owners spending more money inside the Fiat dealership seems like a good idea to us, given the automaker’s premium compact focus, just like Mini. What do you think – should Fiat be introducing a program like the Fiat Custom Shop?
